FAQs

The practice I work with does not accept insurance. We do accept HSA and FSA cards as payment for sessions, and Nashville Therapy Group is considered an out-of-network provider, which means your insurance company may reimburse a portion of your costs if you file a claim yourself.
We know it can be frustrating trying to find therapy in Nashville that is covered by insurance. We choose not to for very important reasons, primarily because most insurance companies aren’t concerned about mental and emotional wellness through stressful times. They tend to only focus on medical outcomes, requiring a label that permanently diagnoses individuals, often unnecessarily, and sometimes dishonestly.
Nashville Therapy Group is committed to maintaining the highest ethical standards, allowing you to keep your records private from any insurance companies or employers interested in your mental health history. By simply paying in full as needed, you maintain complete control and confidentiality of your sessions.

Our main Nashville Office is located at 2021 21st Avenue South in Hillsboro Village, Suite 410. It is a lovely red brick historical building that used to be the old St. Bernard Academy and Convent. It's easiest to turn onto Bernard Avenue from 21st and you'll see it. You can park in any Visitor spot around the building.
If your appointment is in the evening or weekend, you may need the Access Code to enter the building. Please contact your therapist directly to receive this information.
The easiest way up is to take the RAMP ENTRANCE (to the right of the main entrance) and take the elevator to the 4th floor, Suite 410. When you exit the elevator, take a right, and you'll see our sign. Come on in and have a seat in our waiting room until your therapist meets you!

Yes, I offer online therapy.
Instead of meeting in our offices, you’ll meet via video conferencing software. You and I will schedule a time to meet online, then I will send you a link to join the video call. When you click on the link, you’ll see your therapist appear on your screen, and your session will progress as it would in-person. If you want, we can collaborate with any of your outside providers while you are with us, and if you do choose to take a break from your outside provider, we are happy to keep them in the loop during your time with us, so when you return you can pick right up and continue healing.

The group I work with, Nashville Therapy Group, considers confidentiality one of the key components of the therapeutic relationship. Your stories, personal feelings, emotions, and histories are your privilege to share and completely yours to entrust within the confines of your sessions. If you are meeting in the office, please know that the utmost effort has gone into making the room secure and private. If online sessions are held within your own home, you can feel comfortable that you are in control of the environment around you.
Prior to your first session, you will review and sign our Client Services Agreement. This agreement includes Informed Consent and clarifies how information is shared and kept confidential. It should be noted that there are a few exceptions to the limitations of confidentiality, in accordance with Tennessee state law as well as professional ethics and guidelines:
If your therapist believes you are at risk of hurting yourself or another person, your therapist may breach confidentiality to protect your or parties in potential harm.
If your therapist suspects child or elder abuse in any form, Tennessee state law requires your therapist to report any relevant information to the proper authorities.
If your therapist is subpoenaed for court, your therapist may be required to disclose confidential information, though every effort will be given to uphold and protect your rights and you will be notified of the subpoena prior to any disclosure.

All clinic appointments must be cancelled at least 48 hours in advance or the full fee will be charged. You can reschedule or cancel your appointment by communicating directly with your therapist.
Of course, we understand that life happens. Sickness, accidents, and emergencies can be entirely unpredictable and sometimes 48 hours notice is impossible. Grace and compassion will be extended to those with extenuating circumstances, and no charge will ever be made when canceling due to inclement weather, as safety always comes first.
